ART OF FORGETTING - FORGIVE

THE ART OF FORGETTING
by Gen. Chapman

Perhaps forgetting is not quite so fundamental as forgiving; for forgiveness is a grace, while forgetting is an art.
One must forgive to be good, but he must forget if he would be wise and useful and happy.

Yes, forgetting is an at implying practices just the opposite of remembering. Repetition, exaggeration, association, & imagination are all involved in memory methods.
But if you want to forget a thing, refuse to dwell upon it, minify it's importance, reduce it's rank, look at if from the perspective of things that really matter, make it inconsequential, finally isolate it, as the scientists do to disease germs in the laboratory.
Refuse to connect it with persons or motives, and positively forbid the imagination to dwell up it.
FORGET IT.
LEARN TO FORGET BY FORGETTING
FORGETTING IS AN ART

2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

TO FORGET:
  • disregard an offense
  • remove judgmental spirits within
  • keep no score of wrongs
  • ignore all good thing you yourself have preformed and expected thanks or recognition for
FORGETTING reminds me that , too, have flaws which others could emphasize.
FORGETTING enables me to be big and encouraging, not petty and negative.
FORGETTING frees me to live for tomorrow rather than be hung up on yesterdays.

Philippians 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before

UNFORGIVENESS STOPS YOUR MIRACLES FROM HAPPENING!
MOUNTAIN MOVING FAITH BEGINS WITH FORGIVENESS!

Mark 11: 24 Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. 23 “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. 25 And WHEN YOU STAND PRAYING, IF YOU HOLD ANYTHING AGAINST ANYONE, FORGIVE THEM, SO THAT YOUR FATHER IN HEAVEN MAY FORGIVE YOU YOUR SINS.

Mark 11:25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”

LET GO LET GOD -- LET THE PAST PASS

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.

Let Go ... Let God
This morning when I first awoke,
My shoulders were still sore,
And there beside my slippers,...

Lay my cross upon the floor.

It was just where I put it,
Before I went to sleep,
And so I placed it on my back,
'Tis where I always keep
It through my waking hours,
'Til it's time to put it down,
It grows a little lighter,
On towards evening, I have found.
This morning as the dawn appeared,
My heart was full of care,
The grievances of yesterday,
Seemed just to much to bear.
My worries seemed to multiply,
By two's and then by three's,
My burden grew in size until,
It pushed me to my knees.
Reaching out for help I found,
That everyone had gone,
I raised my eyes and sobbed,
"Dear Lord, it's just too hard alone."
Then through the sudden stillness,
There came a blessed peace,
I felt new hope arising,
And felt the heartache cease.
And then I heard His footsteps,
Along the path I trod,
And He softly whispered to me,
"My child let go ... let God!"

Psalms 71: 14I will keep on expecting you to help me. I praise you more and more.
15 I cannot count the times when you have faithfully rescued me from danger.
I will tell everyone how good you are, and of your constant, daily care.
16 I walk in the strength of the Lord God. I tell everyone that you alone are just and good.

17 O God, you have helped me from my earliest childhood—and I have constantly testified to others of the wonderful things you do.
18 And now that I am old and gray, don’t forsake me.
Give me time to tell this new generation (and their children too) about all your mighty miracles.

1Your power and goodness, Lord, reach to the highest heavens. You have done such wonderful things. Where is there another God like you?

20 You have let me sink down deep in desperate problems. But you will bring me back to life again, up from the depths of the earth. 21 You will give me greater honor than before and turn again and comfort me.

LET GO AND LET GOD!

As children bring their broken toys
with tears for us to mend,
I brought my broken dreams to God,
because He was my friend.
But then, instead of leaving Him,
in peace, to work alone;
I hung around and tried to help,
with ways that were my own.
At last, I snatched them back and cried,
"How can you be so slow?"
"My child," He said,
"What could I do?
You never did let go."

When the clouds seem their darkest
And the daylight won’t come;
When you’re up to your ears and drowning
And can’t find a straw to hang on.
When your load gets too heavy, or your shoes get too tight;
When you’re faced with life’s battles and have no will to fight;
Remember: Let go and let God.
Remember: He is the way.
You just trust in God’s mercy every night and every day;
Remember: All thru the darkness
Remember: All thru the storm
There’s a Light there to guide you.
And the Good Lord to lean on.

Let Go! -- Let God!

When loved ones are taken, husband, wife, child, mother, sister, whichever may be.
Each survivor thinks no one loves or misses them half as much as me.

It's hard to imagine another's pain.
When in our own misery we seem determined to maintain.

It isn't until we let our loved ones go,
That we can help others and their feelings know.

Otherwise, we are wrapped up in our own feelings, our grief,
And are incapable of giving others suffering, relief.

If we trust God and know no mistakes He makes,
We should thank Him when one of our loved ones He takes.

For never again will mental or physical pain they have to endure.
Because their Heavenly Father loves them so, with Him they are secure.

Though we've always known we'd each have to leave this earth one day,
We pretend that time is far, far away.

So to wish them back on earth even if we could,
Would hurt them rather than do them good.

Let go, let God be in charge of our dear one's life.
Let go, let God remove all strife.

So God can use us to help see others through,
That have lost loved ones, like me, like you.

Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

BINGE SINNER -- BONDAGE BREAKER - GALATIANS 5 - FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT

ARE YOU A BINGE SINNER?
I AM -- ALL TOO OFTEN!
Ever changing in just a flash?
FROM:

Love to lust
Drink to drunk ...

Visiting to gossiping
Eating to gorging
Playing a machine to controlled by the machine
Investing in stocks to greed?
On and on the list could go!
And each time we say "Wow, I can't believe I did that-- that's just not the me I want to be!"

SOME OF THE TERMS WE USE FOR IT--
MESSED UP
MADE A MISTAKE
HAD A BRAIN FART
CONFESS -- FORGIVE YOURSELF AND MOVE ON!
Galatians 5:13 For, dear brothers, you have been given freedom: not freedom to do wrong, but freedom to love and serve each other. 14 For the whole Law can be summed up in this one command: “Love others as you love yourself.” 15 But if instead of showing love among yourselves you are always critical and catty, watch out! Beware of ruining each other.
16 I advise you to obey only the Holy Spirit’s instructions. He will tell you where to go and what to do, and then you won’t always be doing the wrong things your evil nature wants you to. 17 For we naturally love to do evil things that are just the opposite from the things that the Holy Spirit tells us to do; and the good things we want to do when the Spirit has his way with us are just the opposite of our natural desires. These two forces within us are constantly fighting each other to win control over us, and our wishes are never free from their pressures. 18 When you are guided by the Holy Spirit, you need no longer force yourself to obey Jewish laws.
19 But when you follow your own wrong inclinations, your lives will produce these evil results: impure thoughts, eagerness for lustful pleasure, 20 idolatry, spiritism (that is, encouraging the activity of demons), hatred and fighting, jealousy and anger, constant effort to get the best for yourself, complaints and criticisms, the feeling that everyone else is wrong except those in your own little group—and there will be wrong doctrine, 21 envy, murder, drunkenness, wild parties, and all that sort of thing. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
22 But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control; and here there is no conflict with Jewish laws.
24 Those who belong to Christ have nailed their natural evil desires to his cross and crucified them there.
25 If we are living now by the Holy Spirit’s power, let us follow the Holy Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. 26 Then we won’t need to look for honors and popularity, which lead to jealousy and hard feelings.

Galatians 5
So Christ has made us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get all tied up again in the chains of slavery
