CHILDREN - FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS

What can be heard by little ears should not be spoken by big mouths.
Children have more need for role models than for critics.
Parents who teach their children industry provides them with a fortune.
"It is not easy to straighten in the oakthe crook
that grew in the sapling."
"Parents should work together as efficiently
as two bookends."

Family Relationships
Ephesians 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord [that is, accept their guidance and discipline as His representatives], for this is right [for obedience teaches wisdom and self-discipline]. 2 Honor [esteem, value as precious] your father and your mother [and be respectful to them]—this is the first commandment with a promise— 3 so that it may be well with you, and that you may have a long life on the earth.

4 Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger [do not exasperate them to the point of resentment with demands that are trivial or unreasonable or humiliating or abusive; nor by showing favoritism or indifference to any of them], but bring them up [tenderly, with lovingkindness] in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

THE SHEPHERD'S FLOCK OF INNOCENT & LOST -- NOW PURE & FOUND

"Who is great in the kingdom of God? Jesus sets up a little child as His answer.
Childhood back in those days was a condition not to be desired by an adult, and Jesus points to the child not as a winsome example, of how charming and simple we're supposed to be, but rather how lowly.
Throughout scripture, Jesus exalts losers. Whether highlighting children, or hobnobbing with prostitutes and tax collectors, Jesus rubs the salt of lostness into the sensibilities of those who are preoccupied with the sweetness of their "successes"
Jesus lifts up the last. The least, the Lost, the little , and even the dead. His grace is reserved or those who, like a little child, see themselves as...little. Who is great in God's eyes? Whoever humbles himself like such a child is greatest in the kingdom of Heaven.
Jesus is not a prophet to the winners, but the losers, proclaiming that the last shall be first, the weak, strong, and the fools, wise. It's the lowly, not the proud, who shall inherit the kingdom of heaven.
Lord, when I see a child today, help me to see who You want me to be like."

"Jesus is walking the highways of life looking for the riffraff,
looking for the sinners like you and me;
hounding us until he catches us,
not to point an accusing finger, but to remind us who we are -
CHILDREN OF GOD
-for whom He died,
who God wants to use as His princes and princesses in His kingdom."

Shepherd of my soul

Who Is the Greatest?
Matthew 18:1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”

2 Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, 3 and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.

Jesus Warns of Offenses
6 “But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. 7 Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!

8 “If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life lame or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into the everlasting fire. 9 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire.

The Parable of the Lost Sheep
10 “Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven. 11 For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.

12 “What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying? 13 And if he should find it, assuredly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray. 14 Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.
IF ANY!
IF ANY!

"IF ANY of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him." James 1:5

"IF ANY man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: IF ANY man serve me, him will my Father honour." John 12:26

"Therefore IF ANY man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
2 Corinthians 5:17

"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: IF ANY man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me." Revelation 3:20

"Again, truly I tell you that IF ANY two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven." Matthew 18:19

CHILD ABUSE -- CLERGY MUST CHOOSE TO PROTECT THE ABUSED RATHER THAN STAY IN CLIENT CONFIDENTIALITY

Almighty Father,
We lift up the children of this world, the ones who live comfortably and the ones who have no roof above their heads. We lift up the children who have never heard of You. And today as we pray, we remember and lift up in Your tender loving hands, the abused and abandoned, living without love, without hope, and without the basic needs of living.
Lord Jesus, we pray that we may become as pure, as innocent and as humble as children, with no evil, impurity and vengeance in our hearts. May we be excellent examples of godly men and women to children who are in our care. May we nurture and bring them close to You, as they become the future generation of the world and a blessed people of Your Kingdom.
Mark 10 : 13-16
People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them.
When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”
And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.

Clergy as Mandatory Reporters
of Child abuse and neglect
Privileged Communications As a doctrine of some faiths, clergy must maintain the confidentiality of pastoral communications. This is sometimes referred to as “clergy-penitent privilege,” where “penitent” refers to the person consulting the clergy.
Mandatory reporting statutes in some States specify the circumstances under which a communication is “privileged” or allowed to remain confidential.
Privileged communications may be exempt from the requirement to report suspected abuse or neglect.
The privilege of maintaining this confidentiality under State law must be provided by statute.
Most States do provide the privilege, typically in rules of evidence or civil procedure.
The issue of clergy-penitent privilege also may be addressed in case law, which this publication does not cover. If the issue of privilege is not addressed in the reporting laws, it does not mean that privilege is not granted; it may be granted in other parts of State statutes.
This privilege, however, is not absolute.
While clergy penitent privilege is frequently recognized within the reporting laws, it is typically interpreted narrowly in the context of child abuse or neglect.
The circumstances under which it is allowed vary from State to State, and in some States it is denied altogether.
For example, among the States that list clergy as mandated reporters, Guam, New Hampshire, and West Virginia deny the clergy penitent privilege in cases of child abuse or neglect. Four of the States that enumerate “any person” as a mandated reporter (North Carolina, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, and Texas) also deny clergy-penitent privilege in child abuse cases.
In States where neither clergy members nor “any person” are enumerated as mandated reporters, it is less clear whether clergy are included as mandated reporters within other broad categories of professionals who work with children.
For example, in Virginia and Washington, clergy are not enumerated as mandated reporters, but the clergy-penitent privilege is affirmed within the reporting laws.

Ethical dilemma:
When an individual is faced with an ethical situation to which there is more than one seemingly correct solution

Matthew 18 Amplified Bible (AMP)

Rank in the Kingdom

18 At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” 2 He called a little child and set him before them, 3 and said, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, unless you repent [that is, change your inner self—your old way of thinking, live changed lives] and become like children [trusting, humble, and forgiving], you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore, whoever [a]humbles himself like this child is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 Whoever receives and welcomes one [b]child like this in My name receives Me; 6 but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble and sin [by leading him away from My teaching], it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone [as large as one turned by a donkey] hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.

Stumbling Blocks

7 “Woe (judgment is coming) to the world because of stumbling blocks and temptations to sin! It is inevitable that stumbling blocks come; but woe to the person on whose account or through whom the stumbling block comes!
8 “If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble and sin, cut it off and throw it away from you [that is, remove yourself from the source of temptation]; it is better for you to enter life crippled or lame, than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into everlasting fire. 9 If your eye causes you to stumble and sin, pluck it out and throw it away from you [that is, remove yourself from the source of temptation]; it is better for you to enter life with only one eye, than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fiery hell.
10 “See that you do not despise or think less of one of these little ones, for I say to you that their angels in heaven [are in the presence of and] continually look upon the face of My Father who is in heaven. 11 [c][For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.]

TEACH / LEARN -- PARENTS / CHILDREN

Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. Proverbs 22:6
PRAY FOR THE CHILDREN
•That they would be taught of the Lord (Isaiah 54:13)
•That they would hide His Word in their hearts (Psalm 119:11)
•That God would fill them with Holy knowledge and they would walk in His ways (Col. 1:9)

•That their hearts would understand the wonderful future God has promised them (Ephesians 1:17-19) ......

•That they would trust in the Lord with all their hearts and not lean on their own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6)
•That they would not worry or be afraid but the peace of God would guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-9)
•That God’s favor would surround and protect them (Psalm 5:12)

Teach The Children To Pray

A parent realizes their sins have found them out when their children begin to sacrifice to their idols.

Parents write on the hearts of their children that which the world cannot rub off.

The Greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven...

Matthew 18:1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
2 He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. 3 And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.
Causing to Stumble
6 “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. 7 Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come! 8 If your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. 9 And if your eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.

FEAR NOT BELIEVE ONLY -- HEALING FOR CHILDREN BY FAITH OF PARENT

Dear Lord, as I arise this morning I am reminded of the Bible story where you healed a child when her parent requested it of you.

So I ask if these words "DO NOT BE AFRAID, ONLY BELIEVE" still ring true today when parents cry out to you for their child?

I personally believe those words to still be true and I also believe fear often overtakes parents who have sick children even when it's only a slight fever.
I don't understand why some are healed and others are not. What I do understand is the heart of a parent and their love and concern for their child.

My mind goes to all the hospitals, doctors, and parents who today are desperate for a child to have a miracle touch be it through prayer or medicine they just desire to see the child relieved of sickness, disease, pain, discomfort and discouragement.

So for today can I ask that your healing hands reach down from heaven on behalf of all the children who struggle with health issues. I ask you hear the prayers of parents everywhere who seek you in faith on behalf of their child.

Please do not delay but send miracles each time a parent prays; our society is thirsty to see you move among us and see the children blessed with fullness of life as you break the curse upon the children that the delusions of abortion has brought to our nation.

In Jesus mighty name I pray, Amen

Luke 8: 49 While He was still speaking, someone came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, "Your daughter is dead. Do not trouble the Teacher."
50 But when Jesus heard it, He answered him, saying, "Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well." 51 When He came into the house, He permitted no one to go in except Peter, James, and John, and the father and mother of the girl. 52 Now all wept and mourned for her; but He said, "Do not weep; she is not dead, but sleeping." 53 And they ridiculed Him, knowing that she was dead.
54 But He put them all outside, took her by the hand and called, saying, "Little girl, arise." 55 Then her spirit returned, and she arose immediately. And He commanded that she be given something to eat. 56 And her parents were astonished, but He charged them to tell no one what had happened.

TELL THE CHILDREN -- GENERATION TO GENERATION -- IT'S YOUR SPIRITUAL JOURNEY TELL IT!

Dear Heavenly Father, as I read these powerful words in the Bible from Joel 1: 3 where it says:
"Tell it to your children, and let your children tell it to their children, and their children to the next generation."
I ponder my own past encounters with the gospel message as well as the words I spoke to my children of my faith in Jesus Christ and the memories of words my parents and grandparents spoke into my life of their faith.

The resurrection season is upon us as many celebrate our risen savior all over the nation in many varied ways.
Help us each and everyone to open up our heart's door to share the hope of eternity, the forgiveness of sins we've experienced, and the salvation message we know to be real with others especially our own children and grandchildren.
Each of us is a walking spiritual story -- help us not to be ashamed of our past journey as we share the deliverances we've experienced throughout our lives because of Jesus' grace, mercy, and forgiveness.
"BUT BY THE GRACE OF GOD GO I" is a term we know all too well -- let us grow from our struggles and the struggles of our ancestor's so that future generations will truly know we are overcomers because of Christ who strengthens us.
Please bless my friends and family this Easter season and each new day as you walk through their lives with them during the good times and the bad. Strength them mentally, physically, socially, and spiritually; in Jesus' mighty name I pray, Amen.
THE GOSPEL
1 Corinthians 15
1 Moreover, brethren, I DECLARE UNTO YOU THE GOSPEL which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 BY WHICH ALSO YE ARE SAVED, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES;
4 And that HE WAS BURIED, and that HE ROSE AGAIN THE THIRD DAY ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURES:
5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:
6 After that, HE WAS SEEN OF ABOVE FIVE HUNDRED BRETHREN AT ONCE; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.
8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.
9 For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
11 Therefore whether it were I or they, so WE PREACH, and so YE BELIEVED.

"Please inquire of past generations, And consider the things searched out by their fathers.
 Job 8:8
"These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. "You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.
Deuteronomy 6:6-7

Psalm 78

1 My people, hear my teaching;
listen to the words of my mouth.
2 I will open my mouth with a parable;
I will utter hidden things, things from of old—
3 things we have heard and known,
things our ancestors have told us.

4 We will not hide them from their descendants;
we will tell the next generation

the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord,
his power, and the wonders he has done.
5 He decreed statutes for Jacob
and established the law in Israel,
which he commanded our ancestors
    to teach their children,
6 so the next generation would know them,
even the children yet to be born,
and they in turn would tell their children.

7 Then they would put their trust in God
and would not forget his deeds
    but would keep his commands.
8 They would not be like their ancestors—
    a stubborn and rebellious generation,
whose hearts were not loyal to God,
whose spirits were not faithful to him.
Tell them - Andrae Crouch & The Disciples

"Remember the days of old, Consider the years of all generations. Ask your father, and he will inform you, Your elders, and they will tell you.  Deuteronomy 32:7

Revelation 12:11
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
And even when I am old and gray, O God, do not forsake me, Until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to all who are to come. Psalm 71:18

"Know therefore that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His lovingkindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep His commandments;

PRAYER FOR FATHER'S GODLY ROLE MODELING AND EXAMPLES FOR THEIR CHILDREN TO FOLLOW IN

Dear Heavenly Father,
I've been reading in 2nd Chronicles of your book about Jehoshaphat and I see a powerful correlation between a child's relationship with you through his obedience to following the good and godly examples of his father.

"2 Chronicles 17: 3 The Lord was with Jehoshaphat because he followed the example of his father (ancestor) David. He did not seek [to follow] the Baals [the false gods], 4 but sought the God of his father, and walked in (obeyed) His commandments, and did not act as Israel did. 5 Therefore the Lord established the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat, and he had great wealth and honor. 6 His heart was encouraged and he took great pride in the ways of the Lord; moreover, he again removed the high places [of pagan worship] and the Asherim from Judah."
2 Chronicles 20:32 He walked in the way of his father Asa and did not depart from it, doing what was right in the sight of the Lord. 33 Only the high places [for pagan sacrifices] were not removed, for the people had not yet set their hearts firmly on the God of their fathers."

I'm wondering as America keeps deteriorating morally where have all the godly fathers gone! I am certain many fathers pray, go to church, read the Bible, and provide for their children's needs. Yet something seems to be missing in their boldness against worldly ways. A bit cowardly I guess is what I'm thinking and definitely ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
So today I pray for a new measure of courage for Christian fathers all across our land, a boldness such as in 1 Chronicles 28:20 “And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.”

Jehoshaphat was also weak in some areas -- he didn't always complete the tasks at hand like when he was destroying ALL THE IDOLS (he left a few), his business tactics sucked when he picked the wrong partner (Ahaziah) and his shipping business tanked, he lacked wisdom in giving good direction to his son's choice of a wife and got into a predicament with her evil father (King Ahab).
Mistakes and sins happen but your promises never fail and fathers can draw inner strengths as you remind them of their value and important family and worldly roles. I pray for an outpouring of your love, grace, mercy, strength, and boldness to be release today on fathers as godly role models as they walk their talk before their children. 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

Jehoshaphat was a bold follower of God's ways and had a national concern that the people of his kingdom would know the one and only true God, he believed in a strong military, and a good legal system.
Please bless our nation with great leadership, that first starts in the homes.

Please remove any blinders the enemy (Satan) has placed upon fathers and open their spiritual ears to your ways and their minds to understanding wisdom sent from above on behalf of children and our nation.

Bless father's everywhere today with your direction and holy presences in their lives, In Jesus mighty name I pray, Amen.

Walk a little Plainer Daddy

“Walk a little plainer, Daddy”
said a little boy so frail.
“I’m following in your footsteps
And I don’t want to fail.
Sometimes your steps are very plain,...
Sometimes they are hard to see.
So walk a little plainer,
Daddy, for you are leading me.”

“I know that once you walked this way
many years ago.
And what you did along the way
I’d really like to know.
For sometime when I am tempted
I don’t know what to do.
So walk a little plainer, Daddy
for I must follow you.”

“Someday when I’m grown up,
you are like I want to be.
Then I will have a little boy,
who will want to follow me.
And I would want to lead him right
and help him to be true.
So walk a little plainer,
Daddy For we must follow you.”

DAD'S turn out all right in time!
•4 years old: My Daddy can do anything
•7 years old: My Dad knows a lot, a whole lot
•8 years old: Dad doesn't know quite everything
•12 years old: Oh, well, naturally Father doesn't understand
•14 years old: Father! Hopelessly old-fashioned
•21 years old: He comes up with a good idea now and then...
•30 years old: Must find out what Dad thinks about it
•35 years old: A little patience; let's get Dad's input first
•50 years old: What would Dad have thought about that?
•60 years old: I wish I could talk it over with Dad once more

Cats In The Cradle
My child arrived just the other day
He came to the world in the usual way
But there were planes to catch and bills to pay
He learned to walk while I was away
And he was talkin' 'fore I knew it, and as he grew
He'd say "I'm gonna be like you dad...
You know I'm gonna be like you"

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home dad?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

My son turned ten just the other day
He said, "Thanks for the ball, Dad, come on let's play
Can you teach me to throw", I said "Not today
I got a lot to do", he said, "That's ok"
And he walked away but his smile never dimmed
And said, "I'm gonna be like him, yeah
You know I'm gonna be like him"

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

Well, he came home from college just the other day
So much like a man I just had to say
"Son, I'm proud of you, can you sit for a while?"
He shook his head and said with a smile
"What I'd really like, Dad, is to borrow the car keys
See you later, can I have them please?"

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then

I've long since retired, my son's moved away
I called him up just the other day
I said, "I'd like to see you if you don't mind"
He said, "I'd love to, Dad, if I can find the time
You see my new job's a hassle and kids have the flu
But it's sure nice talking to you, Dad
It's been sure nice talking to you"

And as I hung up the phone it occurred to me
He'd grown up just like me
My boy was just like me

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man on the moon
When you comin' home son?
I don't know when, but we'll get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then
