WHY STUDY THE SCRIPTURES -- SPOOKY STUFF -- A PERSONAL TIME WITH GOD!

Jeremiah 15
15 Lord, you understand;
    remember me and care for me.
    Avenge me on my persecutors.
You are long-suffering—do not take me away;
    think of how I suffer reproach for your sake.
16 When your words came, I ate them;
    they were my joy and my heart’s delight,
for I bear your name,
    Lord God Almighty.

17 I never sat in the company of revelers,
    never made merry with them;
I sat alone because your hand was on me
    and you had filled me with indignation.
18 Why is my pain unending
    and my wound grievous and incurable?
You are to me like a deceptive brook,
    like a spring that fails.
19 Therefore this is what the Lord says:
“If you repent, I will restore you
    that you may serve me;
if you utter worthy, not worthless, words,
    you will be my spokesman.
Let this people turn to you,
    but you must not turn to them.
20 I will make you a wall to this people,
    a fortified wall of bronze;
they will fight against you
    but will not overcome you,
for I am with you
    to rescue and save you,”
declares the Lord.
21 “I will save you from the hands of the wicked
    and deliver you from the grasp of the cruel.”

John 5:37-40 Holy Bible

37 And the Father who sent me has himself testified concerning me. You have never heard his voice nor seen his form, 38 nor does his word dwell in you, for you do not believe the one he sent. 39 You study[a] the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, 40 yet you refuse to come to me to have life.

Luke 24:25-51

 25 He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26 Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” 27 And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.
 28 As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus continued on as if he were going farther. 29 But they urged him strongly, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over.” So he went in to stay with them.
 30 When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. 31 Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. 32 They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”
 33 They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together 34 and saying, “It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon.” 35 Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.
THE RISEN CHRIST Appears to the Disciples
 36 While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”  37 They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. 38 He said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? 39 Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”
 40 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. 41 And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” 42 They gave him a piece of broiled fish, 43 and he took it and ate it in their presence.
 44 He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.”
 45 Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.

46 He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, 47 and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things. 49 I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”

The Ascension of Jesus
 50 When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. 51 While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven.

THE MANUFACTURER'S HANDBOOK SHOWS THAT
SPOOKY STUFF HAPPENED WHEN JESUS DIED ON THE CROSS!

NOT ONLY DID JESUS RISE FROM THE DEAD
BUT
GRAVES OPENED AND OTHERS WHO HAD DIED--
CAME OUT AND WALKED ABOUT!

ARE WE PREPARED FOR WHAT IS TO COME
ANY MORE THAN THE DISCIPLES WERE
FOR WHAT HAPPENED IN THEIR DAY?

Matthew 27:50-54

50 And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.
 51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split 52 and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. 53 They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and[a] went into the holy city and appeared to many people.
 54 When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!”

IS IT TIME TO PUT OUR GLAD RAGS ON?

Colossians 3:5-14

5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.[a] 7 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. 8 But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. 9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. 11 Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.

 12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Most Christians do not follow the law of Moses...WHY???
1. Jesus abolished the law--FALSE
-(Matthew 5:17-19)-"Do not think that I have come to abolish the law o...r the prophets. I have not come to abolish these things but to fulfill them.
I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth pass away not the smallest letter or stroke of a letter will pass from the law until everything takes place.
So anyone who breaks one of the least of these commands and teaches others to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever obeys them and teaches others to do so will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.--TRUTH

2. Jesus taught against the law- FALSE
(Matthew 23:2-3)-"The experts in the law and the Pharisees sit on Moses' seat.
Therefore pay attention to what they tell you and do it. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they teach."--TRUTH
3. The law was too difficult--FALSE
-(Deuteronomy 30:11-14)"This commandment I am giving you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it too remote.
It is not in heaven, as though one must say, "Who will go up to heaven to get it for us and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?"
And it is not across the sea, as though one must say, "Who will cross over to the other side of the sea and get it for us and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?"--TRUTH
(FYI, The oral law, Talmud, was difficult, not the Torah)
4. Paul did not follow the law-- FALSE
--Acts 24:14- "But I confess this to you, that I worship the God of our ancestors according to the Way (which they call a sect), believing everything that is according to the law and that is written in the prophets."-- TRUTH
--Acts 25:8- "Paul said in his defense, "I have committed no offense against the Jewish law or against the temple or against Caesar."--TRUTH
Be careful not to take Paul's writings out of context. His writings can easily be twisted to show that the law has been abolished.
It's a common mistake.
Peter warned us about this mistake :
-- 2 Peter 3:15-16- And regard the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as also our dear brother Paul wrote to you, according to the wisdom given to him,
speaking of these things in all his letters. Some things in these letters are hard to understand, things the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they also do to the rest of the scriptures.--TRUTH
When reading Paul's letters, remember that he uses the generic term "law" to refer to at least seven different laws:
-Law of God (Romans 3:31; 7:22-25; 8:7)
Isaiah 40:8, Mark 7:9-13, 1peter 1:23-25
-Law of sin (Romans 7:23-25)
-Law of sin and death (Romans 8:2)
-Law of faith (Romans 3:27)
-Law of righteousness (Romans 9:31)
-Law of God (Romans 3:31;7:22-25;8:7)
-Law of Christ (Romans 8:2, 1 Corinthians 9:21)
This post is to encourage all to research the scriptures. Jesus warned us of false doctrines.
The decision to follow Gods law has nothing to do with salvation. The law can't save us. We follow the law because we LOVE God.

He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.
