RECONCILIATION

"Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First GO AND BE RECONCILED to them; then come and offer your gift. "Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still together on the way, or your adversary may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison. Truly I tell you, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.
Matthew 5:23-26
For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, and in one body TO RECONCILE BOTH OF THEM TO GOD THROUGH THE CROSS, by which he put to death their hostility. He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God's people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the LORD. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.

Dear Readers: Since 1989, I have suggested that
APRIL 2 be set aside as RECONCILIATION DAY.
Everyone would vow to write a letter or make a phone call and mend a strained or broken relationship. It could also be the day on which we would all agree to accept the olive branch extended by a former friend. Life is too short to hold grudges. To be able to forgive can be enormously healing and life-enhancing. It's the best example of casting your bread upon the waters, and getting back caviar sandwiches. Do it today. Make it a real day of reconciliation.

RECONCILIATION:
the restoration of friendly relations
the action of making one view or belief compatible with another.

Song Of Reconciliation - Susan Ashton with Margaret Becker and Christine Dente

If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men. Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, "VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY," says the Lord. "BUT IF YOUR ENEMY IS HUNGRY, FEED HIM, AND IF HE IS THIRSTY, GIVE HIM A DRINK; FOR IN SO DOING YOU WILL HEAP BURNING COALS ON HIS HEAD." Romans 12:18-21

In Jesus we have peace and through Him we have reconciliation with God.

You are so right Brenda --
PEACE THROUGH HIM!
I have a person in my life who never seems to reconcile issues -- then lives with the hounds of hell in anguish -- I pray before she passes away one day she sees that the Cross of Christ is all about being first reconciled to God than to those He carefully placed in our lives for spiritual training and growth.
